Background to Diplomas in Professional Cookery

The research and development work by People 1st with and on behalf of industry has clearly identified that the Diploma in Professional Cookery is the qualification which meets the futureskill needs of the industry and is the ideal developmentvehicle for any aspiring professional chef.

 Industry still laments the demise of the 706 suite of qualifications - indeedresearch by People 1st identified that 7% of employers are still recruiting for these qualifications which ceased to exist 14 years ago. The Diploma in Professional Cookery builds onall that was valued in the 706 suite.

The National Skills Academy for Hospitality acknowledgement of Professional Diploma’s will assure the industry that students leave college with the broad range of skills and knowledge that employers need, and follows a direct call by industry heads for this new benchmark.
